AIR AMBULANCE
Air Tindi's Air Ambulance (Medevac) Service is an integral part of the Company. This department was originally established in the late 80's in response to the need for Aircraft Medevac Services in the Western NWT. These services are normally used to transfer stabilized patients from medical facility to another that has a higher level of medical expertise or capability.
In 1996 the GNWT ad hoc Medevac charter system was enhanced to become a dedicated Medevac Aircraft contract. Air Tindi was awarded this contract. The establishment of a dedicated Air Ambulance System provides a quality medevac service that ensures 24 hour, 365 days per year availability, along with the benefits and efficiencies that are realized with combined efforts of a dedicated team of specialists. Over the past 19 years Air Tindi has become known as one of the premier Air Ambulance providers not only in the North, but throughout Canada. For 19 continuous years we have provided air ambulance services to thousands of northerners all across the North.
Air Tindi along with our partners at Aklak Air are currently the sole provider of Air Ambulance contracted under the Government of the Northwest Territories. Air Tindi, Aklak Air and the Stanton team have grown with the North to ensure the best possible service is provided 24 hours per day every day of the year.
Between the two partner airlines we operate a fleet of 7 King Air 200's and 100's. 5 of these aircraft are dedicated 24 hours per day, year round with two of them on back up. These 7 King Air twin jet prop aircraft are equipped with state of the art full medical interiors. Most of the equipment in a hospital room can be found in our aircraft. One of our King Air 200's C-GDPB has a large cargo door. Air Tindi operates the only King Air 200 in western Canada with this very convenient door. This door ensures very easy loading and unloading of passengers who are on stretchers. Our Air Ambulance team is the largest and most advanced MEDEVAC fleet based in the north.
